Belgrade accepted his request: Elez is returning to Serbia

Darko Elez, who was sentenced to a total of 20 years in prison in Bosnia and Herzegovina, will soon be extradited to Serbia to serve his prison sentence there, "Avaz" learns.

All done

The Serbian Ministry of Justice accepted Elez's request to serve his sentence in Serbia. On December 21ST, 2020, he was arrested according to the Interpol warrant in Belgrade and extradited to Bosnia and Herzegovina in March. He has been in prison in Vojkovići for almost two years.

- There are still a few ambiguities that are being resolved and we will realize this transfer very soon – it was told to "Avaz".

He submitted the request to serve his sentence in Serbia through lawyer Senad Kreha in February this year.

Based on the plea agreement, Elez was sentenced to 15 years in prison by the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for serious crimes committed as part of an organized criminal group, and he was arrested in the "Doll" case.


Restored citizenship

In 2004, the court in East Sarajevo sentenced him to five years and eight months for murder, and he received a single prison sentence of 20 years.

Elez asked to serve his sentence in Serbia because due to the fact that his family lives there. Serbian citizenship was recently restored to him.


Investigation suspended

Elez submitted the application for extradition to Serbia as soon as the legal possibilities for it became available, i.e. when the judicial authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina suspended the investigation that was launched against him due to the suspicion that in 2018 and 2019 he participated in two murders, extortion, intimidation and other criminal acts.
